Color and Shape

In the 70’s, the Estrada sisters distinguished themselves in their town where they lived because of their passion as girls, they liked to collect small stones. Every day, when they returned home from school, they arrived very hungry after completing their schoolwork, so their mother had food prepared for them on time.

When they finished eating, as a routine, the two did their homework to be ready the next day when they returned to class. They were very responsible in that. After doing the task, they prepared themselves with everything necessary to start the search for figures in the stones.

Everything was passion and dedication, which would later become a work of art. They spent long hours earnestly collecting those stones, in any pile of rocks they saw wherever they went. For them it was like a game to do that. When they finished their work collecting a good quantity of stones, they went home, washed them and put them to dry in the sun. Later, they began to paint them with watercolor colors that their father bought them in the city.

The most surprising thing was that they found different shapes for the stones; for example, faces of people and animals, thus creating very colorful and fun designs. The two of them spent the rest of the day decorating all that pile of collected stones, which they later sold where they lived. The figures that were not sold, they placed them on the furniture of their house, adorning a beautiful shelf and giving a special touch to the living room.

It is not known how many years they lasted doing that. Now, only the memory remains of that fascinating activity of the girls who, at that time, entertained themselves with it. For them that was great and creative, although what they did was just a hobby, a curiosity.

But who would have imagined that, over the years, one of the two sisters would come to have in her hands a book that would guide her in the search for what has been called “the gold rush”. And she would remember that same experience again, but on a deeper level, documenting herself with that book about precious stones and minerals.

Thus, she managed to classify useful rocks where she would find pure gold.

What at first was like a game, became a true passion with the discovery of precious stones and valuable minerals due to their color and shape.

Color y Forma
