I’m Lost

The Rex dog existed when new technology revolutionized the canine world. Taking advantage of this, as a precaution, his master Pablo decided to embed a chip in his body to identify him.

One day, Pablo took Rex to the vet to have this process done. When the dog was ready, they went home. Rex was already prepared not to get lost; well, that was intended, because he liked to climb under the fence of the house, when his master was not. Several times he tried, but since he always had his leash on every time he escaped, and some good Samaritan took him to a local veterinarian, he was always detected by those in charge of the clinic who, immediately, saw his collar with the naked eye. They already knew that the dog had an embedded chip, where they could see that it had the unique record that indicated its name, its address and its owner’s telephone number.

But one day, Rex ventured out of the house as usual, under the fence, and was lost forever, because Pablo had forgotten to put his signature leash around his neck. Rex was found that day by a person who generously took him to a vet much further from his home. The vet didn’t scan his body to see if a chip was embedded, as Rex wasn’t wearing a leash. The dog stayed there for about a week. Rex was still waiting for his master to come get him; but it was not like that. Days and weeks went by, until a person who was not his master arrived at the vet, and they offered to give him the dog. That person immediately agreed to adopt him and took him home without finding out more details. From that day on, the mischievous Rex changed hands.

In these times, technology has evolved for the good of all; but, sometimes, it happens that those who should be aware of what may harm third parties in the future, do not care. That makes it negligence. There is no empathy for others, be they people or animals as in this case.

Estoy Perdido
