The Bike Without Pedals
It was a month before Santa Claus brought Regina her Christmas presents. She had already ordered some toys through a letter sent to the North Pole. Among these, a bicycle was listed.
One Saturday very early, Regina and her parents went to the city’s swap meet, and while they were going through the toy stalls, the girl saw a bicycle that she liked; but the bike had no pedals. Apparently, her parents didn’t want to buy it that way, although Regina was left with the idea that they had bought it for her.
And the day came when Regina would open her presents. Santa Claus had brought her a bicycle. The toy was already assembled, and the girl’s parents had covered it with a blanket.
On the morning of December 25, when the little girl woke up, she went to where the Christmas tree was, to look at all the gifts that she knew that Santa had brought her that night. And, what would be the surprise, there were many small wrapped gifts, but there was also the bicycle, that was the last thing Regina looked at.
When Regina had already opened all the presents, her father told her: ”Look, Regina, here’s another present, but you have to uncover it”. The girl, very surprised and excited, took the blanket in her hands and pulled it, discovering what was under it. The little girl tried to do it alone, but she couldn’t uncover such a big gift. After that, dad helped her do it; between the two of them they removed the blanket that covered the bicycle.
Very surprised Regina, seeing that it was a bicycle, it caught her attention more, because that was what she had also asked Santa Claus for. From there, the girl began to look at the bicycle from all sides. She named each of the accessories she was looking at. The smart girl said: ”Wow, what a wonderful bike!”. ”I like the fuchsia pink color!”, ”I love the colorful tassels that hang from the handlebars!” And also: ”The decals of the glued princesses were her favorites!”. In addition, Regina, unfastened a heart-shaped purse, in pastel colors, pink and purple, which came embedded in the front of the bike.
It didn’t take long for the cunning Regina to remember that it was the bicycle without pedals that they had seen at the swap meet. The only thing that came to the girl’s mind was to ask: ”But, it does have pedals, right? His father replied: “Yes!” And all the people present there burst out laughing. Regina, still very excited, kept looking at the bike from all sides.

La Bicicleta Sin Pedales
Faltaba un mes para que Santa Claus le trajera a Regina sus regalos de Navidad. Ella ya había pedido algunos juguetes por medio de una cartita enviada al Polo Norte. Entre éstos, estaba en la lista una bicicleta.
Un sábado muy temprano, Regina y sus padres se dirigieron al tianguis de la ciudad, y, en lo que andaban recorriendo los puestos de venta de juguetes, la niña vio una bicicleta que le gustó; pero la bicicleta no tenía pedales. Al parecer, sus padres no la quisieron comprar así, aunque Regina se quedó con la idea de que sí la habían comprado para ella.
Y llegó el día en que Regina abriría sus regalos. Papá Noel le había traído una bicicleta. El juguete ya estaba ensamblado, y los padres de la niña lo habían cubierto con una manta.
Por la mañana del día 25 de diciembre, cuando la pequeña despertó, ella se dirigió hacia donde se encontraba el árbol de Navidad, para mirar todos los regalos que sabía que Santa le había traído por la noche. Y, cuál sería la sorpresa que, allí, había muchos regalos pequeños envueltos, pero también estaba la bicicleta, eso fue lo último que Regina miró.
Cuando ya había abierto todos los regalos Regina, su papá le dijo: ”Mira, Regina, aquí tienes otro regalo, pero tienes que destaparlo”. La niña, muy sorprendida y entusiasmada, tomó la manta entre sus manos y la jaló, descubriendo lo que había debajo de ella. La pequeña intentó hacerlo sola, pero no pudo destapar ese regalo tan grande. Después de eso, el papá le ayudó a hacerlo; entre los dos quitaron la manta que cubría la bicicleta.
Muy sorprendida Regina, al ver que era una bicicleta, le llamó más la atención, porque eso era lo que le había pedido también a Santa Claus. Desde ahí, la niña empezó a mirar la bicicleta por todos lados. Nombraba cada uno de los accesorios que iba mirando. La inteligente niña, decía: ”Wow, qué maravilla de bicicleta!”. ”Me gusta el color rosa fucsia!”, ”me encantan los colgajes de colores que cuelgan de los manubrios!”. Y también : ”Las calcomanías de las princesas pegadas son mis favoritas!”. Además, Regina desprendió un bolso en forma de corazón en colores pastel, rosa y morado, que venía incrustado en la parte delantera de la bicicleta.
No pasó mucho tiempo cuando, la astuta Regina, recordó aquella bicicleta sin pedales que habían visto en el tianguis. Lo único que a la niña se le vino a la mente fue preguntar: ”Pero, sí tiene pedales, verdad? Su padre, le contestó: ”Sí!”. Y todas las personas allí presentes se echaron a reír. Y Regina, todavía muy entusiasmada, siguió mirando la bicicleta por todos lados.
