Walking in a Circle

Although the compass was invented centuries ago, for the six friends, who lived in a remote place, it was still unknown and they did not have one, so they got lost in a huge orange orchard.

Early one day, the youths went to an orange orchard to take food to Frank who was working on the irrigation work. That time, Frank had stayed the whole night watering the garden, and, it was assumed, that day they would come to where he was bringing breakfast, lunch and dinner. But the most curious thing that happened to them was something inexplicable.

They had to walked about five kilometers to enter what would later be a great journey through the orchard. When they began to cover what were the first 100 meters, the six boys continued walking, but at the same time they were playing, going up and down banks of wet earth, in the mud, since that part of the land the Frank had already watered. All night.

That day, around noon, the Frank would find himself watering a little more than a quarter of the orchard. The orchard was enormous, and he was working there waiting for the food to satisfy his hunger.

At first, for the six boys it was all fun and novelty, as they had never done this before. And even more so when they went into that grove for the first time, where they saw green and leafy trees everywhere that all looked the same. At that time, everything was game; but, suddenly, they felt that they had walked a long way, looking for Frank, in addition to the fact that they were all covered in mud from head to toe.

The most curious thing was that, when they reached the center of those vast acres of land, the six children began to walk in a circle, they circled so many times in one place that one of them realized that they were not going any further, but rather as they walked and walked they looked at places where they had passed, but by the time they realized it, the day was over for them, night had already fallen, and until then the innocent children realized that they were lost.

They tried to get out of there when they realized what had happened, but the boys could not, as there was a magnet there that attracted them and did not let them move, neither to one side nor to the other; neither along nor across that orchard.

When the parents of those children saw that they did not return home, that’s when they sent their older children to look for them. And yes, they found them trying to get out of there, but they kept going round and round.

And, the strangest thing was also that, in addition to getting lost, none of the boys got hungry, or maybe they ate the fruit of the tree, because the lunch they brought to give it to Frank was intact inside the bag, but the outside of the bag was all muddy.

At that moment, the children did not think about Frank, who would be hungry, but about their older brothers, that they should go look for them.

And so it was, when the six friends looked at their brothers who had come for them to where they were, they were very happy. At that very moment, they all returned home very happy with that experience, which they will never forget for the rest of their lives.
